Frequently Asked Questions
~Is Model Integrity a Modeling School? Or an Agency?
Model Integrity is not a school or an agency. Model Integrity is a trustworthy "resource group" designed to inform, protect, and connect aspiring models of all ages with honest information, legitimate local agencies, and other reliable resources. We do this primarily through our New Model Workshops which cover everything you need to know to pursue the local modeling market. You can read more about what Model Integrity is in the "About" section.
~What should I wear to a workshop or event?
You are welcome to wear whatever you like – something simple and figure flattering is best, and not too much makeup. Casual or “casual-chic” is fine. Be comfortable, be yourself!
~Do I need to bring anything to my workshop?
No, but if you have a snapshot or professional comp card or headshot bring that along so we can see what you’ve experienced so far. If you have other materials (a portfolio, other pictures, resume, etc.) you may want to bring those too, though they are not required. We understand that many of you are just starting out and that's perfect; this is the best place to start!
~Do your events cost anything?
Model Workshops are offered at a reasonable rate to cover your materials (you leave with a full workbook), the speaker’s time, and overhead expenses. One-on-one consultations understandably cost a bit more. You can find current rates on the “Upcoming Events” page; generally registering ahead of time will offer you a discounted rate.
Model Integrity is extremely committed to saving you money (at times even thousands of dollars) as you explore your options for pursuing the modeling industry. The small workshop fee is an investment in your modeling career and simply necessary for us to bring this upfront information to those who need to hear it.
Occasionally we may hold free open calls or model searches, often in coalition with other local businesses or charity partners. When available, these will be posted under the "Upcoming Events" page as well, but our primary work is done through our New Model Workshops.
~How long does a workshop last?
Workshops last approximately 2 hours. They are mostly presentation time with some question and one-on-one time available at the end. Depending on how many people are part of your workshop, the time could go longer. Please allow enough time so you don’t have to rush off at the end, since this is when you will have some of your individual questions answered.
~Can I bring a friend? Or a parent? Or my children?
Since workshops can last up to 2 hours or more, small children may have a hard time sitting through them. Bringing your child(ren) is not prohibited, but we recommend you do not. Please bring a photo/snapshot of them instead.
If you are a parent of a tween or teen who is interested in modeling, they may be very interested in the information as well and we do recommend you bring them along. If you need to bring more than one teen/tween along, please see the question below (and the rates on the Event page) for adding an additional immediate family guest.
Teens – we recommend that if you are under 18 you do bring a parent with you. (Even if you’re a bit older than that, you're still welcome to bring a parent along; second opinion never hurts). If you need to bring more than one parent along, please see the question below (and the rates on the Upcoming Events page) for adding an additional immediate family guest.
If you want to bring a friend or non-family member with you, they will need to register separately and pay the regular workshop fee.
~If I’m interested in modeling information for more than one child (or want to bring both parents along), do I need to pay a registration fee for each of them?
Your workshop fee covers one person plus an immediate family member/parent if necessary. If you come by yourself to get info for 3 kids (who stayed at home), you are paying only one workshop fee. If you bring one child, also still one workshop fee. But if you bring two children (or two parents come with one teen), you will need to pay a workshop fee + a guest fee.
Each full workshop fee includes one binder and one model bag. These items are not included with "guest" registration. Friends or non-family members do not count as guests and must register separately with the regular workshop fee.
Please call or email if you have any questions about this; and make sure that when you regsiter you tell us how many people are attending for space purposes.
~This all sounds very exciting, but how do I know it’s not another scam or dead-end?
We are so glad you’re asking that! The very fact that you’re skeptical means you are on the right track (though we hope you will remain hopeful on your journey!). All we can say is, you don’t. But we’re not making promises we can’t keep, convincing you you’re part of a select crowd that’s been accepted into our program, or guaranteeing you’re going to make it big (guarantees in this industry are always a cause for concern). Please check out the “Testimonials” page to hear from others who have met with us. Then come see for yourself… we have a sincere passion for helping aspiring talent and developing trust amongst our clients.
~What if I have no experience with any sort of modeling?
Perfect. Start here to get all the info, guidance, and training you need.
~What if I am already a working model?
If you’re working with a local, well-established, legit agency, that’s fabulous! Our workshops probably aren’t for you unless you want to find out about alternative agencies or more info on the business of being a model.
If you’re working as an independent model and want to know how to connect with local agencies, then joining us may be a very beneficial experience.
At times, when we offer special events or modeling contests, experienced models are often welcome to audition or participate. Each event will note if it caters to “new models only” or if all levels of experience are welcome. These type of events come up rarely; our main focus is on helping New Models through our Workshops.
Working models who are interested in updated headshots, fashion shoots, or new comp cards may want to check out the options we have at Feather Blue Studios or subscribe to the Model Integrity newsletter for upcoming opportunities (see the contact page).
~Will you try to sell us anything?
The core of Model Integrity involves helping you understand all of your options and letting you make decisions about which next steps you want to take in regards to the modeling industry. It does not involve pressuring you or convincing you that you need something you don’t.
Modeling does involve some tools that agents use to market you to their clients. If and when you begin working with an agency, they will expect you to have professional, commercial-level photos (or at least a single photo) to market yourself. Because Model Integrity founder Shannon Tacheny is also a photographer and owner of Feather Blue Studios (which helps her understand the industry even better), we are able to offer some special discounts on photo shoots, comp cards, portfolios, and headshots to our workshop attendees that may be a great perk for you.
However, there is absolutely no expectation or pressure that you need to take advantage of these opportunities, and depending on your situation, may even be advised not to invest in them yet. Model Integrity is about being honest, upfront, and guiding you in the direction best for you.
~How do we register?
Head to the “Upcoming Events” page for dates on workshops. If there aren’t any posted, you are welcome to inquire and we may be able to put one on the calendar based on your scheduling suggestions. One-on-one consultations are also available at your convenience and involve more time to teach and advice just you based on your unique situation.
